Maxime Rovère
Bio
Maxime Rovere is a French philosopher and writer. A Spinoza specialist, he developed “interactional philosophy”, an ethical reflection focused on human relationships and social dynamics.
A former student of the École Normale Supérieure and the École du Louvre, he taught at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon (2002-2007) and then at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (2015-2019). In 2020, he was a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in Amsterdam, before being a visiting researcher at the École française in Rome in 2021. He is now an associate researcher at IHRIM (UMR 5317) at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
His work covers three main areas:
- History of philosophy : With a focus on Spinoza and the intellectual exchanges of the 17th century.
- literature : Translator and preface writer, he has worked on a variety of works, ranging from Casanova to children's literature.
- Aesthetics : It explores the interactions between artistic creation and philosophical reflection in collaboration with artists.
A prolific author, Maxime Rovere collaborates with Payot & Rivages and Flammarion editions. He also contributes to journals such as The Literary Magazine. His work combines historical rigor and contemporary commitment, making him an essential figure in current philosophy.
Residency project
As scientific director of the philosophy residency on The Quest for Meaning, Maxime Rovere plays a central role in the organization, orientation and inspiration of the participants. With his expertise in interactional philosophy and his research on Spinoza, he guides participating teachers in their exploration of new educational tools and formats.
Maxime structures the program by offering rigorous philosophical reflection, while promoting practical and innovative approaches. He leads conferences, workshops and discussions to deepen the theme of the search for meaning, making it accessible and relevant in the face of contemporary challenges such as misinformation, the polarization of opinions and screen addiction.
Its role is also to support participants in the appropriation of new media and technologies, such as video clips, podcasts or the use of artificial intelligence. Maxime offers a stimulating intellectual environment where teachers can experiment and develop innovative teaching tools designed to make philosophy lively and engaging for a wide audience.
Through his expertise and dynamism, Maxime Rovere is transforming this residency into an intellectual and practical experience, aiming to reinvent philosophy as an active and accessible force in society.
