Bio

Fabrice Moracchini, a FIDE master and FIDE coach with an Elo ranking of 2271, learned chess in 1983 in a German club thanks to a correspondent. His career in the chess world was marked by significant milestones. For the past ten years, he has been a FIDE master and obtained his first international master standard in May 1998. In 2005, he was crowned French champion with the Drancy team in Nationale 1.

Fabrice often plays the English overture with White. Against 1.e4, he favors French defense, and against 1.d4 or 1.c4, he uses East Indian defense. However, it remains flexible and adapts its openings according to needs.

His best memory as a chess player is getting his international master standard. An fan of Michael Adams, he is known for his communicative character, although sometimes a bit too Cartesian. Apart from chess, he is passionate about tennis.

Fabrice also created “Moracchini Chess Institute” to share his expertise as a chess coach. On this site, he offers personalized training, live lessons and psycho-technical analyses, allowing students from all walks of life to benefit from his experience and to progress in their chess practice.

Residency project

Fabrice is particularly passionate about the idea of supporting actions that encourage the promotion and practice of chess among women. Indeed, this prestigious game, which is still largely dominated by men, for several reasons. Historically, chess has been seen as a male domain, with fewer women encouraged to participate. This initial under-representation led to fewer female role models and fewer opportunities for women. Gender stereotypes and the lack of institutional support also played a role. Promoting chess among women could help break gender stereotypes and inspire more young girls to engage in this intellectual field, thus improving equity and equality in sport.

Fabrice wants to create a space where women can develop their skills, by highlighting the qualities of precision and control that the game of chess promotes. The aim of the initiative is to promote the practice of chess among women. It aims to provide opportunities for learning and development in an exceptional setting, promoting parity and excellence in the world of chess. By organizing these courses at Rocabella, Fabrice hopes to inspire a new generation of talented and passionate players.
